چکیده
We read with interest the article by Dr. J. V. Ferris reporting his treatment of a patient with polycystic liver disease by serial percutaneous ethanol injection [1]. He mentioned that percutaneous ethanol injection has been considered ineffective in treating extensive polycystic liver disease, resulting in severe symptoms. We report our experience with serial needle aspiration in a patient with extensive polycystic liver disease over a 10year period.

متن کاملLaparoscopic Management of Symptomatic Multiple Hepatic Cysts: a Combination of Deroofing and Radical Excision
BACKGROUND Liver cysts have been estimated to occur in 5% of the population. Multiple liver cysts can also be part of the polycystic disease complex. Only symptomatic or complicated cysts need surgery. Traditionally, laparotomy is the procedure of choice. We present our experiences with laparoscopic management of both symptomatic multiple liver cysts and polycystic liver disease. METHODS Betw...
متن کاملDiagnostic Fine Needle Aspiration in a Case of Riedel’s Thyroiditis
In Riedel’s thyroiditis, a rare chronic inflammatory disease of thyroid gland, fine needle aspiration is usually non-diagnostic because most often only follicular cells are obtained and not the fibrous material characteristic of this type of thyroiditis. Therefore the diagnosis is often only established by histopathologic study of the surgically obtained biopsy. The illustrated case is a 46-yea...

MRI of the neck was performed along with fine-needle aspiration (F...
متن کاملTreatment of polycystic liver disease: a hypothesis, patient characteristics, short and long-term results.
BACKGROUND Non-total liver resecting invasive treatment of polycystic liver disease has different recurrence rates. The aim of this study is to illustrate why the recurrence rates are different. We established a hypothesis that the cyst number is a constant in polycystic liver disease in a patient's lifetime. MATERIAL AND METHODS We selected 287 patients with polycystic liver, in which 35 pat...
